Writing problems

One event has changed too many relationships to track easily

A betrayal, confession or alliance changes more than one pair of people. You keep discovering later scenes that still behave as though the event had not happened.

How PlotDirector can help

Start here

Relationship Map

A network view helps you revisit each affected connection instead of following only the most obvious pair.

See recorded connections at a selected story position. Compare positions to review how states, intensity and each side’s perspective change.

Look for Connections touched by the event, their before-and-after states and consequences still missing from later scenes.

Why this happens

A social event can affect witnesses, dependants and rivals as well as its participants. Some consequences are private or delayed; not everyone should react at the same moment.

Someone excluded from the event may continue acting on the old situation quite plausibly. The relevant check is when news reaches them and what they understand it to mean.

What to look for

  • Map who is directly affected and who hears later
  • Trace altered loyalties into subsequent decisions
  • Check scenes that still assume the old network
