A relationship changes before it feels earned
A friendship, romance or alliance makes a large turn, but the scenes leading to it do not seem to carry the change. You may know the intended reason without seeing it on the page.

Relationship Map
Review the relationship state at points before and after the change, then return to the scenes between them.
See recorded connections at a selected story position. Compare positions to review how states, intensity and each side’s perspective change.
Look for Choices, encounters or consequences that prepare the shift, rather than a new label appearing on its own.

Why this happens
The event that changes a relationship can be brief. What matters is whether the surrounding experience makes that change intelligible for these people, rather than whether enough chapters have passed.
An abrupt alliance might be convincing under immediate pressure but fragile afterwards. Look at the consequences the book gives that speed, not just the size of the change itself.
What to look for
- Compare the state immediately before and after the turn
- Find the decisions that make the turn plausible
- Check whether intermediate encounters were removed or moved
