Writing problems
Your setups and payoffs have become disconnected
A revelation feels unprepared, or an early detail seems to promise something the ending never addresses. You may remember intending a connection that the draft no longer contains.

Plot Lines Workspace
Following the relevant thread can put preparation and payoff in the same review path.
Follow selected storylines through their recorded scene contributions. Focus isolates one line; Weave shows shared scenes and the gaps between contributions.
Look for Introductions without later contributions, payoffs without preparation, and long gaps between the two.

Why this happens
Setups and payoffs are often written far apart. Revision can remove the preparation while preserving the consequence, or keep a suggestive detail after its planned resolution changes.
A repeated object can create an expectation even without a planned twist. Review the emphasis the draft gives it, rather than assuming readers can distinguish your important details from discarded plans.
What to look for
- Pair important expectations with their later consequences
- Check what preparation survives before each payoff
- Separate deliberate open questions from abandoned promises
