Writing problems

Your storylines don't feel connected

The individual strands have interesting events, but moving between them feels like changing books. A scene in one line rarely alters what is possible in another.

How PlotDirector can help

Start here

Plot Lines Workspace

Weave puts shared contributions and recorded connections beside the separate lines.

Follow selected storylines through their recorded scene contributions. Focus isolates one line; Weave shows shared scenes and the gaps between contributions.

Look for Shared junctions, consequences crossing between threads and stretches that continue without affecting each other.

Selected storylines, shared scenes and the gaps between contributions.

Why this happens

Threads may share a setting or cast without sharing consequences. That separation can be intentional, but a converging story needs more than characters occupying the same room.

Two people meeting does not necessarily connect their plots. Ask whether the meeting changes a decision or creates a consequence that the other line must now accommodate.

What to look for

  • Find decisions whose effects cross into another thread
  • Compare what each strand contributes to the ending
  • Identify meetings that change nothing beyond their own line
