Understanding the Results

Column Meaning
Name The given-name form and its type. Ambiguous word means the form can also be an ordinary word.
Profile A usage tendency, era range, locale, usage score and confidence for the selected reference profile.
Related forms Linked alternatives such as diminutives or variants, where recorded.

The list shows one selected profile per name, not every locale and era in which the name occurs. The era range describes the selected profile; it does not establish the name's first or last use. Usage and confidence are reference scores, not a character's age, identity or a precise population percentage.

Current use Recorded matches to character names or aliases in the project context.

No profile or no era profile indicates missing reference information. None listed means there are no related forms recorded here. Related forms are naming suggestions, not proof that two character records describe the same person.

Interpreting Current Use

Already used shows recorded matching names or aliases. Unused here means no such match was found, not that the name is absent from manuscript prose. A full character name may not match a shorter given name unless that shorter form is recorded as an alias. Review your cast before relying on the badge to distinguish characters.
