Name Usage Filter

Usage checks saved character names and aliases. It helps avoid collisions but does not scan every mention in manuscript text.

Filtering Current Use

Choose Already used to inspect names matched to existing characters or aliases. Choose Unused to explore names without a recorded match, or Used and unused to compare both.

Matches use the recorded name form. For example, a character saved only as Eleanor Vale may need Eleanor recorded as an alias for the shorter form to be recognised here. Related forms and nicknames are not automatically all counted as the same character name.

Use the current-use summary to review possible clashes. An Unused here badge is a prompt to investigate, not a guarantee that readers have never encountered the name in your manuscript.
